March 2008
“Love your neighbour” Pastor Dallas and I left on Friday morning 15th February for a 27 hour drive to Zimbabwe one of the neighbouring countries of South Africa. It was such a long drive so we stayed over in a city called Polokwane about 270km before the border of Zimbabwe. We left early the next morning and arrived in Zimbabwe (Harare) on Saturday evening. The country itself is very beautiful with its huge rocks and mountains, whereby we could see the richness of the continent and its people every where. Due to a political and social conflict now covering eight years in the nation, Zimbabwe is facing the highest level of economic inflation on earth (100 000%), 85% unemployment, 17% HIV/AIDS infection rate, and 70% decline in agriculture and industrial production. In the midst of that, about 70% of the 12+million people are Christian adherents. That is now making the church to be a focal point where victims of the situation come looking for all types of answers and solutions. It is in a country like this where the words of Jesus in Matt 5:43 “loving your neighbour” became more real to me than ever before as we were getting ready on Monday morning of 18th February with our mission to go to different cities and towns within the nation. Pastor Dallas and I were hosted by Apostle Alexander Chisango and his wife Analyn from Zimbabwe. Our mission was to assist as well as provide transport for the holding of kingdom of God empowerment meetings for leaders of various churches and other kingdom domains in seven cities. In spite of the great potential and historical wealth in that nation, goods, commodities and services that churches take for granted in other nations are now in short supply. So for some years now Apostle Chisango has been equipping the church in the nation not to wait for government or non-profit agencies help but to implement the kingdom of God empowerment in the church and communities. That empowerment is covering fields like Stewardship and leadership development; Food, agriculture and natural resource conservation; Business and employment creation; Health, HIV/AIDS and nutrition; Life skills; Reconciliation, community healing and rehabilitation; Restoration and networking of churches as body of Christ, etc. As the Holy Spirit began to whisper the words, “loving your neighbour” into my ears, I began to ask God what I can do to help these precious people of Zimbabwe. He then allowed me from time to time to see deeper into the hearts of these people and I did not see any sign of bitterness, hatred or revenge. What I saw was a kind of people who smiled while hurt, gives love while they themselves need it as bad as respect was reflected in everything they do. I have never seen a people with so much respect for authority towards their leaders, their authorities and for one another. It was an amazing thing for me to experience the hearts of a people waiting for their God to show Himself in a country whose economy is in such a difficult state. Daily, we travelled for a couple of hours from city to city, teaching leaders and Pastors about God's dominion mandate of creating something out of nothing. I was appreciating God so much for this wonderful and awesome opportunity to have witnessed how two Nation builders (Pastor Dallas and Apostle Chisango) were disclosing the mind and purpose of God in these different cities. They were proclaiming a message about the Kingdom of God for eight full days and leaders from around the globe were impacted with the revelation on transition out of a Church mentality into a Kingdom mentality. We left Zimbabwe on 27 February and arrived home safely on 28 February. We had an awesome time and we just thank God for His grace that was upon us every step of the way. We now also want to thank all of you for your prayers and support for making this trip possible. May God bless you richly. Pastor Marshall
