June 11, 2006 THE SOUTH AFRICA AIDS CATASTROPHE LETTER #2
An American diagnosed with HIV can
still be strong in 10-20 years. An African diagnosed with HIV will be dead
in 2-5 years! At least 42 million people worldwide are HIV positive. At a
minimum 72% of them live in Sub Saharan Africa. That’s over 30 million
people right now this moment who will die in less than 5 years. 30
million! 30 million African souls grasping for hope, crying for help,
desperate for answers, longing just for someone to care and touch them and
speak kind, loving words. 30 million people waiting for you and me to
give them an eternal and immediate reason and hope for their lives. It is
absolutely true that if we don’t help then many more people will die
needlessly. I could not possibly exaggerate this if I flagrantly attempted
to! I believe the truth and reality of this catastrophe is beyond
skepticism, cynicism, and criticism! We all should violently rouse
ourselves, role up our sleeves, and lay our hands on this great problem and
enemy, together! There is absolutely no reason under heaven why 30 million
beautiful black and mixed race African people should die when Christ died
Himself to heal and save them! But they will, unless we rise to this
challenge and confront it now to vanquish that which seems to hate Africa
the most in this hour!
In 1993, just prior to the end of
Apartheid, the AIDS rate in South Africa was 4.3 percent, in 2000 the rate
was 24.5%! In 7 years it multiplied a minimum of 5.7 times! Life
expectancy in SA before the HIV/AIDS pandemic was 68.8 years. Now life
expectancy in SA is 33.8 years! That is less than ½ its former level which
was under the oppression of Apartheid racism! But the former oppression
contributed largely to the current crisis because black people were
devalued, the family structure was broken down, and now there is freedom
from external control but a great vacuum of self government. Life expectancy
will only get shorter, unless we rises to this challenge and take action
now!
New people are coming to the farm and
ministry base weekly looking to receive hope and help, and we also go to
their shack homes to pray for them, love them, and help with basic
essentials. We especially go to those who are too sick to travel. We’ve
prayed and ministered to a number of young people with full blown AIDS and
emaciated bodies. We have seen some of the very sickest gain ground both in
spirit and body, but then end up dieing because their life is surrounded
with witchcraft and curses in their homes, families, and communities. We confidently believe that in the days ahead we will see God supernaturally
heal even the sickest as we are empowered to spend more time, energy, and
resources upon them. And we are grateful that almost every one of those who
died was visibly affected by God’s love and accepted Christ as their Savior.
But God’s plan and promise is much greater than deathbed salvations and good
bye prayers!
In the next week I will be posting on
our website the vision and goals for the AIDS ministry. Honestly, we are
not going to have more than a minute impact on the HIV/AIDS catastrophe here
in SA unless we get many more monthly supporters as well as significant
donors. I am sending this call for help out to everyone we can possibly
reach. Please forward this to others and encourage them to send their email
address if we would like us to put them on our mailing list or give them
more information.
If you can help us financially please
make support checks out to GMSA and mail to P.O. Box 18592, Spokane, WA
99228. Since we are asking for your financial support we would he honored to
answer any questions you may have in that regard. I would truly welcome and
appreciate email or phone call enquiries and encouragements.
God bless you exceedingly and may you
bless South Africa,
